Therapy sessions with me
Neurodivergent-affirming, inclusive, online therapy services tailored to you.
How I Can Help
It is no easy feat taking the step to find and contact a therapist so well done to you for getting this far! Hopefully by the end of this page you will have a better idea of how I can help (my therapy services) and whether working together might be a good fit.
You can also find out more about me here, the ‘human’, and the ‘therapist’.
I am currently based in London, UK, working with clients all over the globe from across the UK, to Europe, Australia, New Zealand and beyond.
My Approach
As an integrative psychotherapist (fancy word – but basically means I am trained in and draw from different therapy modalities, ideas and theories), I am able to use my training and skills to tailor therapy to you and your needs. That means, for example, that I do not just offer only one type of therapy like change-focused CBT, nor will I just stare at you silently while you talk to me about your childhood (psychodynamic approach).
In fact, if I had to describe my preferred way of working, it would be termed working ‘relationally’, and in a way that is centred around you (and your needs) as the client (a humanistic, person-centred approach).
Working ‘relationally’ also means that I am concerned with our relationship together in the therapy room (our client-therapist relationship) and how what happens in our ‘room’ might flow through into your relationships with others in your world, and vice versa. I am also interested in how your past and your present impacts you and your relationships today.
Additionally, as a neurodivergent (autistic ADHD) person myself and having worked with many neurodivergent folk, I am also passionate about adapting therapy and our approach to suit you and your preferences and access needs. I will ask about these preferences and needs when we first meet, and review them with you regularly.
Sessions with me are also
Neuro-affirming
Sessions are designed to be supportive, compassionate and to meet you where you are, with what you have, on the day. We won’t be doing prescriptive plans, rigid goal setting, or forced eye contact. We can even sit on the floor (in our respective spaces), while we chat and stim to our hearts content, or talk special interests, if that’s what feels good for you.
Trauma-informed
We move at your pace and I will always check in to make sure things feel okay for you, and if not, we pause or stop. We recognise it’s okay to feel ‘stuck’ and there is no space for blame or shame in our sessions. There is never any pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with.
Tailored to You
We work together to move towards your goals/what you are hoping to obtain from therapy, at a pace that suits you. You are the expert of you (and your story). An integrative style centres therapy around you and your preferences, and anything offered or discussed in sessions, will always be done in the spirit of co-creation and collaboration.
A Sidenote on the Term 'Disorder'
The term ‘disorder’ is not one I love, especially when applied to neurotypes or mental health issues. The word often entirely places the problem as ‘within the individual’, that they are ‘abnormal’, ‘broken’ and need to be ‘fixed’, whilst ignoring the various system(s) and environments that have often failed folks. When I use the term on here, it is simply because I know that this is (sadly) the language most are still familiar with.
Issues and concerns that I commonly work with:
- Anxiety
- Depression and low mood
- Disordered Eating and Eating Disorders (primarily emotional eating, binge eating and food avoidance/ARFID)
- Body image
- Perfectionism and low self-confidence
- Relationship difficulties and conflict
- Navigating life transitions and loss
- Identity work including exploration of gender and sexuality
- Supporting self-discovery around neurodivergence
- Burnout (including neurodivergent burnout, and compassionate support around shutdowns, meltdowns and sensory overwhelm)
However, this list is by no means exhaustive so please do get in touch with me, if there is something else you are needing help with, and we can chat further.
