Food and Eating Support
Neurodivergent-affirming, non-diet, nutrition counselling sessions and practical food and eating support with a dietitian & nutritionist.
How I Can Help
Wish eating was easier? Does making decisions about food, eating, cooking and planning, send you into overwhelm? Have you always been accused of being too ‘fussy’ with food, or perhaps even shamed for your eating habits? Or maybe you are fed up of dieting and being told to ‘lose weight’ for your health. Would you like an easier relationship with food, eating and your body?
If this is YOU, then I might just be able to help.
What does food and eating support with me look like?
Neuro-affirming
Sessions are designed to be supportive, compassionate and to meet you were you are, with what you have, on the day. We won’t be doing prescriptive meal plans, rigid goal setting or forced exposure to new foods / giving up ‘safe’ foods. We might also explore your sensory preferences in relation too eating and the environment too.
Trauma-informed
We move at your pace and I will always check in to make sure things feel okay, and if not, we pause or stop. We recognise it’s okay to feel ‘stuck’ and there is no space for blame or shame in our sessions.
Tailored to You
We work together to move towards your goals/what you are hoping to obtain from our sessions, at a pace that suits you, and in a way that recognises that there is no such thing as perfect. You are the expert of you.
Practical Support
This might include brainstorming ideas for foods and/or meals that you might like and developing some creative solutions to the things that make food shopping/planning and preparation hard.
Weight Neutral
My work and sessions are inclusive of all bodies and I will never advocate for/encourage the pursuit of weight-loss, both in the management of health conditions or in eating disorder recovery. Your body is yours, you make the call.
Non-Diet Advice
I will never advise you to cut out, restrict foods, or force introduction of new foods. We will explore what eating a ‘balanced’ diet looks like for you. Newsflash: it’s different for everyone.
Inclusive and Justice Orientated
My work is rooted in the knowledge that there are systems that govern health, eating disorder recovery and access to food that are exclusive, discriminatory and rooted in bias. We will talk openly about these things and I remain committed to ongoing learning and unlearning around how traditional models of healthcare and dietetics have largely rooted problems as ‘within the person’.
What can I help with?
- Disordered eating/eating disorders and body image work.
- Sensory aversions and preferences around food, and food restriction not linked to weight and shape fears, including ARFID.
- Co-creating food and eating support to be neurodivergent-friendly.
- Gut conditions including irritable bowel syndrome.
- Women’s health conditions including lost periods and amenorrhoea, endometriosis and PCOS, and managing symptoms of peri-menopause and menopause (for all AFAB people).
- Conception, pregnancy and post-partum nutrition support.
- Managing health conditions like high cholesterol, hypertension and diabetes, using a non-diet approach.
find out more about me, the ‘human’, and me the ‘professional’ here.
I am currently based in London, UK, working with clients all over the globe – across the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and beyond.
Some Fine Print
I currently only work with adults, which for these purposes is defined as 18+ years of age.
I do not provide prescriptive meal plans or a dietary analysis service, nor do I work in a way that is weight-focused/centric. If you would like recommendations of dietitians that might be better suited to you, then get in touch.
Having said that due to risk, physical health needs, and the virtual nature of sessions, I generally cannot work with individuals with a BMI <16 kg/m2. I encourage you to get in touch with your GP to seek support from a multidisciplinary Eating Disorders service.
I no longer support those in ABA/OA or 12 step-based recovery models as these models do not tend to align with the style of support provided in these sessions (focusing on supporting your autonomy to make choices).
If you have an eating disorder diagnosis/meet criteria, then I generally ask that you are in therapy and have appropriate physical health support, via your GP, if seeing me as a dietitian/ nutritionist. In some cases, we may be able to work together for both nutrition and therapy.
